Muslim Student Association

The mission of the Muslim Student Association is to present a welcoming environment for Muslim Students on campus and reach out to the larger Creighton and Omaha Community to build bridges of respect and understanding among different religions and cultures.

WHO:  A student run organization of American-Muslim and International Muslim Students at Creighton University.

WHAT: to develop a sense of unity among Muslim students on campus and  to reach out to the larger Creighton and Omaha Community to promote  a better understanding Islam and Muslims and build bridges of respect among different religions and cultures.

WHY: As the number of Muslim students on the Creighton campus increases, an organization which directly addresses the needs of those students, help them to become adjusted and part of larger community is very much needed.  In addition, due to national and international events, such an organization can also play a major role to dispel any misconceptions and address stereotypes.  Further, Creighton University mission is to educate the whole person and to develop leaders of tomorrow. MSA aims to do the same by helping each other and the community in all aspects of life - spiritual, social, cultural, and academic.

HOW:  

1. Build a committed and motivated leadership to sustain the mission of MSA
2. Provide forums for networking among Muslim students on campus via a welcome event, celebration of religious holidays, social activities, monthly meetings and Cultural events that relate to all cultures that are encompassed by Islam
3. Organize cultural and educational activities to celebrate the diverse people and cultures from the Muslim World
4. Collaborate with other groups on campus to build bridges of understanding and respect
5. Participate in service activities to meet the needs of the larger Omaha community
